Seriously?

Come on - now this is the LAST time I have my 4 year old babysit again. I cannot believe she fell asleep on the job.

Channelling Hillary...

I likened myself to Hillary last week. In my experience, it's a good thing and a bad thing.

Now, I like Hillary. A lot. She was "my" candidate last year, and I was quite sad when she didn't get the nomination. I like Hillary. I like everything about Hillary except for the fact that she forgave her cheating and most of all lying husband. Now, don't get me wrong - I am also a big Bill fan and thought he was a great president. I just don't like when people lie..especially to their wives.

Anyway, one thing I had in common with Hillary was cankles. Oh my word - have you ever had cankles? Me neither! They pumped me so full of fluid before my "c" that I had MASSIVE cankles for 5 days. It was awful. They are gone now...so I just have my midsection cankle to deal with now.

I would also like to thank Hillary for popularizing "it takes a village" back in the 90's. My village rocks! I came home to a fridge and pantry full of food a la Kristi. We had meals provided every night for a week, coordinated by the neighbors on our block, we received homemade cookies, and muffins, and gorgeous peaches and yummy wine. It seemed every time I opened my door, I was met by another gesture of kindness.

It was hard to believe this week, that we live in a large city. We are feeling pretty lucky lately.

The Simple Woman's Daybook Aug 3...

For Today,August 3,2009...

Outside my window... Sunny day coming after a storming night. I love the evening rain.

I am thankful for... Still on a "high" here with my babymoon and vicodin. I love everyone.

From the kitchen...I need a separate posts for this - but NOTHING. I have AMAZING friends and neighbors and dinner has been delivered DAILY for a week. Seriously. I am just beside myself with warmth and friendship here. I need to have babies evidently.

I am wearing... NORMAL pajamas. Love it.

I am reading... Julie and Julia by Julie Powell. FANTASTIC!!(still)

I am hoping... For lots of fun this week with my mom. :)

I am creating...in my mind, the nursery. I really should get started on that.

Around the house...Happy house/clean house.

One of my favorite things... Coffee more than ever.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Visiting with my Mom and Jack, lots of playing. Catching up on my Matilda Jane work.

Here is a picture that I am sharing with you... digging the hats.

I call dibs...

Whenever Astrid is not in her bouncy or enjoying her plush pink blankie, Donut steps in to keep it warm for her. He is such a "great" cat.(not)

Reality Bites...

I love to nurse and am one of those moms who obsessively nurses my kids F.O.R.E.V.E.R....and since this is my last baby, I think she will be 12 when we stop, thankyouverymuch.

However, I always forget how bad that first week is.

When this sweet innocent face and light 6 pound baby starts coming towards your nipples. Instead of seeing your sweet baby and having soft coos of love streaming from your voice of new motherhood, and enjoying the pleasures of nursing a newborn....what you actually see is...

...THIS. ..and as their open mouth comes closer to you, you close your eyes in wait for the pain, and as they latch-on - your toes curl, your legs come out from under you and you scream every curse word you have ever learned. It is a very special bonding moment. The best part is you get to repeat it at least 8 more times that day. Have I mentioned how much I love Vicodin?

On her first day home...

I dressed her in a newborn Baby Lulu onesie that was still too big. She tried to catch a glimpse of the ruffles on her bum and wondered what the hell she was in for.

She was welcomed home to laughter and kisses by 2 very excited big girls.
After she pooped all over her outfit with the ruffle bum, she got naked and was able to relax a bit. So she took it easy all afternoon. Caught a few zzz's and her big sisters read almost every book they owned to her....
...on our new porch.. I love our new porch. Then us big girls celebrated with my homemade Minnie Mouse pancakes. It was a very good day indeed.
The End.
