My Two Dads...

Happy Father's Day!...to my husband, my Grandpa, my Father-in-law, my brother, my uncles, my friends..

...but mostly to my Two Dads! Now affectionately known in our house as Papa Aubie and Papa Jack.

I am very lucky and completely twiced blessed to have 2 Dads in my life....Hey, I've had 2 dads for a combined total of 71 years - more than many people get in a lifetime...and we are all still very young.

I am blessed by the integrity these Men live their lives by.....that they are friends and will golf together, chat together and are one big family for their kids. I am lucky and completely enamored by my Mom, Dad and Jack...that growing up there is not one memory I have of anger, meanness, or strife caused by divorce. Do you know what amazing parents I must have that they care so much for their kids to strive to provide always, everyday a 110% healthy, happy, warm, and safe home..and do it in such a selfless manner.

Happy Father's Day to my Dad...thanks for teaching me adventure, to ski, to laugh, showing me fabulous places, finally making me drive a manual transmission car, for always giving me the most thoughtful cards, for playing tennis with me, for living close, and for coming over on most Saturdays to play with the girls. The girls love their Papa Aubie, and that he gets down and plays on the floor with them and chases them around the backyard.

Happy Father's Day to my Jack...thanks for helping me with my homework, teaching me to golf, not laughing at me when I golf, for not yelling at me with a hit the garage with your Cadillac, for your witty sense of humor that always makes me laugh, for always being my Trivial Pursuit partner(you would think after kickin' Mom and Troy's butt for the 250th time, they would've split us up...), for boxing with me, and of course for putting up with me as a teenager everyday. The girls love their Papa Jack, and love to send him cards since he is far away, and Esther says daily.." I love when Papa Jack always kisses my head when I see him."

I wish you both the best day ever...your love and influence will last me a lifetime and be passed down to your Grandchildren. I love you both and please know how lucky I am to have you both in my life.

Once again you have made us cry! Thank you for realizing how special all of our relationships have been over the years and how unusual it is. Of course Jack refers to your Father as his X-husband-in-law and they truly do have a friendship bond. Openness and honesty have kept this family together. Although some relationships end in divorce, friendship can prevail:)

Goosebumps! As a teenager you don't recognize family situations! I apologize for having been 16 and self-absorbed! But Wow, as a parent, how much I appreciate your parents desire to make it all work for You and Troy! (and the advantage is friendship :)

I loved this post...I was blessed to have two Dad's growing up too and now I have neither, as they have both passed. But reading your blog, reminded me of the things I miss most about them both. :)
