Mental Health Day...

As Jed was taking Esther out to his truck to drive to school, Esther quickly ran back towards the house yelling that she was going to get sick.

She ran back into the house, to the bathroom and just stood there.

"Esther" I yelled, "are you sick - are you going to throw up, honey what is wrong?"

With tears running down her face, she just said her tummy hurt and she couldn't go to school. She then plopped onto the couch and started to moan.

I called the school and told them Esther wasn't coming in today..that her tummy hurt.

So Jed left for work and no sooner had he pulled away from the curb when Esther popped off of the couch and came over to me with a sheepish grin on her face.

"Mommy" she said, "I am not really sick. I was just hoping that maybe we could bake some cookies this morning."

..and do we did.

Because Ann was making me feel a bit inadequate and all. So, we improvised on the recipe a bit with what we had in the house, and baked.

..and snuggled...

..and picked the fuzz out of baby's toes...

..and watched cartoons ALL DAY with the (damn)cat...

..and made a card for our neighbor who just lost their dog..

..and enjoyed a non-sick day at home.

Sometimes I forget that she was my baby for 4.5 years and just maybe she still needs a little babying now and again.

Thanks for the fun day, my baby-boo. I love you.

That is just too cute! Sounds like a much needed and perfect mental health day!!! And would you quit with the feeling inadequate??!! Seriously, keep in mind my third kiddo is the walking, almost-talking, feeding-herself variety. You've still got one attached to the boob who wakes you up all night! Pumpkin runs to Walmart are perfect! Cut your poor mama self some slack! :) Love the cookies! They turned out beautiful!

What a lovely day! And what a good mommy to lavish Esther with the extra love she needed...she will remember that far,far more than what she would have learned in school today.
PS: How do you get the lovely hazy corners around the edges of your photos...is that in Photoshop or does it have something to do with the f-stop setting? I am newer to photography & would love to achieve that look...

Good for you. Little Esther needed the R and R for a day. Lucky to have you at home to share and relax with.
Astrid is sooo adorable. How lucky we all are to have such a beautiful family in Mn.
Enjoy the Snickers. I bought tons of little Snickers and no kids came around so we will be eating them all ourselves.
