Foto Maken...

Perhaps my biggest worry is that when I die someday(a really long time from now), Astrid will have no clue what I looked like because I took the pictures and was never in them.

But until I don't need both hands to hold her and support her head, our lighting improves in our dark, old home, and I buy bigger mirrors...

...she will just have to deal with these kind of crap ones I "foto makened" myself...

Ruffle butts and Stupid People...

1. We met Eloise's 1st grade teacher this week. I was a little miffed that she didn't even introduce herself and when I tried to ask her a little question, she stopped me and told me to send her an email because she would rather communicate that way. I told her that since she doesn't even know my name yet, she could now refer to me at parent 435 as that is how I like to be known to people who don't like to talk.

Seriously, I am not one of THOSE parents - I let teachers teach and try to stay away from the school and away from all volunteer activities. Believe it or not, I am a very low maintenance parent. Really.

2. We went to the Minnesota State Fair this week. Astrid was wearing a Baby Lulu outfit. Do you know Baby Lulu - usually pink, very floral, and many time ruffles - on the butt. I had 2 people come up to her and ask me how old my little boy was? Really? Are you dumb? Just because she is bald, she must be a boy? She is a baby. She is wearing Baby Lulu - the most obvious girl brand on the planet. So I told them that my flamingly gay/cross-dressing son is 5 weeks old and asked if they had a little boy he could marry in 20 years. We are working very hard to overturn Prop 8.

3. I wear black to hide the boob leakage, but now have puke schmutz on my shoulders that shows big time on black. My life is very complicated.

4. My muffin top is huge right now. How the hell do you hide it? Maybe I can wear ruffles on my butt like my baby in drag??? I am bringing ruffles back.

All Wrapped Up and Nowhere to Go

I am addicted to swaddling my babies. I swaddled Eloise until she was 6 months old, whether she needed it or not.

Perhaps I should get a job in a hospital nursery and make $5000 per baby and become a rich and famous swaddler?

When I swaddled Eloise, I called her my little Papoose upon completion.

I called Esther my big Burrito when she was all wrapped up.

When I am swaddling Astrid, I call it getting into Caterpillar mode.

I need more hobbies.

The Simple Woman's Daybook, September 1,2009

For Today...Sept 1, 2009...

Outside my window
... wowza, darkness. Cool mornings are here. I love that Fall is coming.

I am thankful for... Surviving the Minnesota State Fair with 3 kids and 200,000 of our closest friends yesterday.

From the kitchen..nada, zilch...need to shop, but not high on my list of things to do this week.

I am wearing... a robe...it is chilly!

I am reading... School paperwork and filling out tons of school paperwork.

I am hoping...for a fun last week of Summer before the girls go back to school.

I am creating... hair flowers to match the new Matilda Jane line.

Around the house...Astrid is squeaking as she decides whether she should fall asleep or be up. She is restless lately.

One of my favorite things... www. diapers.com - I no longer have to leave my house for diapers - they deliver them to my door at a cheaper shelf price than Target, with free overnight shipping! My plans for Winter shut-in-ness is complete.

A few plans for the rest of the week... busy busy busy...my Matilda Jane trunk is coming - need to get it tagged and hung and ready for shows starting this weekend. I am a wreck thinking about it right now.

A picture of Esther I am sharing. Esther hasn't gotten much play on the blo9 lately and I thought you might want to see her pretty face and what she looks like at the end of the day with her blue eyes sparkling. I love her braids. She looks so Nordic. I have no idea where she got that blond hair and those blue eyes from.

No Chimichanga

I have pretty much been up for the last 48 hours.

Except for the times here and there I fall asleep sitting up, topless, holding onto Astrid sleeping momentarily while nursing.

She evidently hates Mexican food.

I am so sorry...so so so sorry baby girl.

Please forgive me.

It was when she is awake and screaming at me, and evidently unable to forgive me, that I have to go back to these pictures I took when she was 2 weeks old...and just watch her sleep.

It also makes me realize how quickly time goes and even though she is mad at me, and screaming...

...at least I have nothing to do but hold her all day...all night.

..and I need to enjoy this time I can hold her, because too soon this time will be gone.
